Employment generation
The scheme is ongoing. 880 Mandays have been generated till date. 61 Rural ST Households have been provided approximately 72 days employment.

These people are mostly migratory (Pub khata). In this season, they are not to go out of their village due to this ongoing work.

 

Livelihood Development

Irrigation facilities increased. Only 2 acre was irrigated from the existing bundh from rain-fed water. Presently approximately 10 acre will be irrigated from its reserved water.

Name of the Scheme – Excavation of Misirdih Charan Bundh, Manara, Purulia - I.

The scheme is ongoing in mid way. 3469 Mandays have been generated till date. 406 Rural Households have been provided approximately 63 days employment.

Their economic status has been developed. Earlier they earned only 30-35 Rupees but at present through the scheme they are earn Rs. 65-68 per day

Irrigation facilities increased. Presently approximately 30 acre will be irrigated from its reserved water.

Name of the Scheme – Excavation of Teliabhasa Biria Bundh, Ayodhya, Baghmundi.

Employment generation
The scheme is ongoing in mid way. 2782 Mandays have been generated till date. 303 Rural Households have been provided approximately 70 days employment.

The labours were earlier dependent on the sale proceeds of forest fire woods. They earned approximately Rs. 30-35 per two days. At present through this scheme they are earning nearly Rs. 65-70 per day.

Irrigation facilities increased. Presently approximately 15 acre will be irrigated from its reserved water.

 

Success Story : 4

 

A story of success regarding implementation of KULU BANDH at Malti village under NREGA executed during the year 2006-07.

Before execution of work : - The site of the tank situated at Malti village , approx. 200 mts. away from NH- 32 ( Purulia – Tata Raod ) . Despite its comfortable distance from NH – 32 , the nature of the land was hard and rocky and as such no body could think of improvement of the said land for gainfull purposes .

 

During execution of works :- At courtesy and initiatives taken by Balarampur Panchayat Samity , excavation of earth which is mainly hard and rocky in nature started on and from 10-11-2006 . Approximately 284376 cft. Earth with stone has already been excavated and the depth of the tank is now 17 feet. On completion of work the depth of the tank expected to be 26 feet. The catchments area of the tanks will be mainly the rain water rolling from surrounding up land .

 

On Completion of works :- Approximately 12 Hec. Cultivable land situated on the eastern /northern side of the tank area will be benefited and single crop producing cultivable land may be converted in double crop producing land which may help to improve the economic condition of a good number of cultivators significantly. In addition to that the site may also be an ideal picnic sport in the coming days.

A story of success regarding MERGHA  NALA  BANDH  at Barachatarma village under NREGA executed during the year 2006-07 .

Before execution of work : - The site of the tank situated at Barachatarma village which is on the foot- hill of Ajoydha , a notable hill of the district . Naturally the land where the scheme is executed was barren and utilization of the said land for gainfull  purpose was far from expectation .

 

During execution of the work :- At the courtesy and initiatives of the Balarampur Panchayat Samity , excavation of earth of three acres of land now called as MERGHA  NALA  BANDH under NREGS started on 20-11-2006 and the work is still in progress . Approximately 151088 cft. of earth has already been excavated and the depth of the tank is now 16 feet . On completion of the work the depth of the tank is excepted to be 22 feet. The catchments area of the tank will be especially the rainwater rolling from Ajoydha hill top and surrounding areas which are commonly up land . The labour force deployed in the scheme used to earn a small amount towards their wages from the contractors who gave them employment in others works. The rate of wages earned by the labourers in the scheme in question is much higher then that of the rate of other works and as such the economic condition of the labour force has been improved considerably.

 

 On completion of the work :- On completion of the work , the paddy land which are mainly exist on eastern side of the tank will be benefited considerably . It is estimated 15 Hec. approx. crop area will be irrigated and the mono crop cultivable land will be converted in double crop producing land . Moreover the site of the tank is enriched with scenic beauty which may invite tourists to have a view of the area in near future.
