CHUNARAM MAHATO
(1924-1942)
Born at Kurda village of Manbazar. He participated in the” Non-Cooperation Movement “launched by Mahatma Gandhi. British Police attested him at the tender age of eight and sent to jail. He was in the forefront to Manbazar Police station blockade and died by Police firing on 30th September 1942. |
GOBINDO MAHATO
(1924-1942)
Born at Nathurdih village of Manbazar. He participated in the” Non-Cooperation Movement “launched by Mahatma Gandhi. British Police attested him in 1932 and sent to jail. He was in the forefront to Manbazar Police station blockade and seriously injured by the assault of Police firing on 30th September 1942. |
DWIJO TIMA
(1917-1986)
A resident of Ghonga village under Purulia II block. He hailed from a lineage of musicians decorated by the kings of Panchokot. Dwijo Tima was one of the best composer and writer of Jhumur music at Manbhum area. |
BHABAPRITANANDA OJHA
(1886-1970)
The foremost Jhumur song writer of all times. Under the patronage of Jyotiprasad, his collection “Brihat Jhumur Rasmanjari” was published. It was a classical publication of all times of Jhumur music. |
