NIC , Purulia District Centre  is one of the  district node of NIC in the country.  It was established in the year 1988. Since its inception NIC, Purulia District Centre provides IT support to the district administration and play an important role in promoting IT culture in the district. IT services includes consultancy, training, software design & development, Network services, E-mail connectivity , Web site development & hosting.

   Projects   made operational by NIC, Purulia with the help of District Administration.
1. BASE LINE SURVEY : This project has been implemented for analysis and monitoring of micro level socio-economic data collected from backward villages of the district.
2. AAY ( ANTODAYA ANNAPURNA YOJANA ) : This project has been implemented for effcive monitoring of  ration card holders list dealer wise in the district.
3.GP  PENSION INFORMATION SYSTEM: The main objective of the project is to prepare monthly pension bills (bank-wise) for Gram Panchayat . This ensures disbursement of pension in time. Time to time updation of data, arrear calculation and other related bills are prepared
4. COSA ( Computerisation of Salary Accounts):   Thi software has been developed at WB State centre for the standardization salary accounts in the State. Generation of Montly Pay bills, pay slips, summary bills and  various schedules are done by this software for each DDO .
5.AGMARKNET ( Agriculture Marketing Network) :  This project has been implemented at the office of District Agriculture Marketing Officer . Daily market price of selected items being uploaded  for the Regulated Market Committee.
6. MOTOR VEHICLES INFORMATION SYSTEM:  This  project  is facilitating online Registration of Vehicles and online Collection of Road Taxes and other miscellaneous taxes. This ensures increase of Government Revenue and brings transparency in the departmental work.
7. PUBLIC GRIEVENCE REDRESSAL SYSTEM (PGRS)  :  This web enables project has been implemented to monitor Public Grievance effectively and to take necessary action accordingly.
8. ARMS LICENSE INFORMATION SYSTEM: The objective of this project is to create a database of the arms license issued,  monitor issue of new arms licenses, renewal of licenses,
9. SHG ( Self Help Group Info System) :  NIC supported DRDA implementing this software for monitoring the activities of self help groups working in the District.
10.  ELECTION  INFORMATION SYSTEM  :  During the elections NIC, Purulia always plays a vital role. NIC assigned  to computerize election related jobs such as Polling Party formation, Printing of Appointment letters, generation of Acquaintance Rolls, Randomisation of Polling Stations, for Parliament, Assembly, Municipal, Panchayet and By-elections. This year polling party formation was supervised/ implemented by NIC in other subdivisions in the district. The   Result analysis and transmission were also done  by NIC, Purulia.
11.  CALM ( Cash Accounts of Legal Meterolgy) :  The project has been implemented at the office of the ACLM for effective monitoring of tax collected from traders and that deposited at bank.
12 CDRS ( Consumer Disputes Redressal System) : At the District Consumer Forum this project has been implemented for speedy disposal of Consumer grievances , effective monitoring of pending cases etc.
 13. MPAIS ( Missing Person and automobile Info System ) : The project is running at the office of the Superintendent of Police. Missing persons / automobiles data are being upladed from Police staion level and updated after finding the missing person.  This is a web enabled project form where public can get info about missing persons.
 14. Primary School Info System :   Detail information has been collected from primary schools including infrastructure, Communication facility teacher and student strength etc.
15. Training : This is very important assignment to the NIC District Officials. Trainings are given to most of the departments in the related application software as well as software like MSOFFICE. The Officers, Staffs and Stenos are trained usually.   

NIC is having a KU-band satellite based VSAT connection called IPA. This can give speed connectivity to the web for accessing Internet. The services we impart are:
i)                   E-mail service for different offices. This includes configuring e-mail connections, generation of e-mail IDS for the District offices and  upto Block Level through dial up RAS server..
 ii)         Email and internet facility  has been exted to Collectorate LAN through proxy server.
iv)                 Bibliographic Information on medical science, ie, MEDLAR’s Search for Medical Practitioners, is available on the NICNET and district centre.
v)                  Receiving  & distributing e-mails in the collectorate & nearby offices.
